As we speak...
The kids are visiting their mother in the county jail.I am a wreck. It has been 3 years since they saw her. At least 3 years, maybe longer.
This visit was recommended by the therapist so my step daughter can get an accruate picture of how her mother lives her life instead of having this unrealistic view of her mother that she does.
Mr. Pissy talked with Ashtin before she left and she was nervous and then last night she cried and didn't think she wanted to do it.
She knows she needs to do it.
Growing up sucks when your mom is a crack head. Yeh, that sounds mean..but it is true. And I only speak the truth...good, bad or ugly as it may be.
Keep your fingers crossed for them/us.
I cannont begin to explain how hard this has been on those kids or our family.
Those kids and this family are my concern. 24/7, that is what I live for.

Maybe putting a real picture with the mental picture Ashtin has built for herself will help her realize how fortunate she truly is to have you and Mr Pissy and stop all this that she has been going through this past year.
It's sad that drugs affects others than just the person taking them.

Oh Stephanie, that really sucks.
I think it's probably a good idea but it must be so hard on the kids. I really wish they would lock her up in a Federal prison so she would finally get the help that she needs.-

Wow, we don't know what to say. Maybe your daughter will understand that she needs to live a good life so that she doesn't walk the same path...ya know, like scared straight?

The kids were not impressed with their visit.
Don't know exactly what was said yet but their Grandma took them up there and said that they were not real excited when they came out.
Ashtin is 13 (almost 14), Spencer is 16.-

I'm sorry the visit didn't seem to have much of an effect on them. It really sucks. They are SO lucky to have you honey. I hope Ashtin straightens up this year. ((HUG))

I am not super step mom..that is for sure.
I am sure Ashtin hates me most days.
Being a step mom is harder for me than being a mom mom.
2 different roles.
I am not that great at it.

Pissy, I don't say much but I read and laugh and sometimes like today I don't laugh. Life can suck for kids when their parents do stupid shit. It is to your credit that you are stepping up (maybe that's why they call it 'step parenting') up to take care of these kids when their Mom made the ultimate bad choice. I so admire you for that. It's a very tough job you've taken on but the rewards can be worth it to the MAX. Good luck to you.

When we got custody Ashtin was about 7 or 8 and she was the same way your step daughter is. It has just gotten worse over time as I am sure you can tell.
So many promises that can't be kept..some many pieces that are broken and the person who broke them can go on and we are left to pick up the pieces.
Those are the little pieces that you can't pick up with your fingers and you step on them and it hurts like a bitch.
